Incendies ^re-release

After the death of their mother Nawal, twins Jeanne (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin) and Simon (Maxim Gaudette) receive two letters at the notary. One is intended for a father they had always assumed was dead, the other for a brother whose existence they knew nothing about. Bewildered, they leave for the Middle East to uncover the truth behind their family history. Their search leads them ever deeper into their mother's past, where they discover how her life was marked by war, violence and an indestructible will to survive. Denis Villeneuve builds the story as a gripping mystery, in which present and past slowly move towards each other and every discovery raises new questions. Incendies is a heartbreaking and tense drama about family, war and the secrets that can affect generations. The film marked Villeneuve’s international breakthrough, won the audience award at IFFR and was nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. Now showing in a new 4K restoration.
