I dreamt, it was NDT 2

NDT alumni and new associate choreographers Imre van Opstal & Marne van Opstal are back with a raw and emotional creation that explores how spaces influence us. Makers Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar show their hypnotic, vulnerable and groovy SAABA (2021) in a version specially adapted for NDT 2.

The Point Being (2023) NDT 2 welcomes their new associate choreographers Imre van Opstal & Marne van Opstal for a world premiere. Since their departure as dancers at NDT and the start of their careers as choreographers, the sister and brother have distinguished themselves as outspoken creators with a raw and emotional style. In their new creation they investigate the influence of spaces on our mood: how a space can liberate us, but also limit us. With a distinctive set and their intriguing movement language, they hold up a mirror to us: that we can sometimes feel big and invincible, but at the same time small and insignificant in relation to the rest of the world.

The worlds that Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar create on stage are unique, intoxicating and intensely compelling. In I dreamt, it was you are invited to step into the universe of SAABA (2021). This beloved work was created for GöteborgsOperansDanskompani, but NDT 2 now presents it in its own, renewed version. SAABA exudes passion and vulnerability, and seduces with hypnotic movements, spherical lighting design and the irresistible groove of composer Ori Lichtik. This work is a powerful example of Eyal's brilliant and idiosyncratic voice, with which she fuses classical ballet and contemporary dance into something supernatural. Irresistible!
