Het Diner

Het diner is a chilling story about the question of to what extent you, as a parent, are responsible for the actions of your own child. Menno Meyjes‘ film adaptation of Herman Kochs novel Het diner dares to do it. Showing madness that disguises itself as mischief, political ambition or parental love, made especially tangible by two sophisticated roles by Jacob Derwig and Thekla Reuten. Menno Meyjes turned Herman Kochs Het diner into something disturbing and still current. The film mainly takes place in a restaurant where the four parents of the boys come together to discuss their strategy, after having recognized the two on television footage: make it public or keep it a secret? After all, it concerns their children.
