Good One follows 17-year-old Sam (Lily Collias) on a weekend hike in the Catskill Mountains with her father Chris (James Le Gros) and his friend Matt (Danny McCarthy). What initially seems like a peaceful trip turns into a psychologically charged confrontation in which Sam comes face to face with uncomfortable truths about her family and her own identity.
India Donaldson (daughter of director Roger Donaldson) brings with Good One an emotionally layered and subtle feature film debut with an emphasis on the beautiful cinematography and on what is not said, but is felt. The film was selected for the Directors' Fortnight at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and received rave reviews from The New York Times and The Hollywood Reporter, among others. Good One is a film that explores the boundaries between youth and adulthood, and exposes the unspoken dynamics within family ties.
