GONE – Inspired by Benjamin Clementine NDT 1

NDT 1 is pleased to present the first full-length performance by associate choreographer Marcos Morau. This world premiere invites you to fully immerse yourself in the imaginative world of Morau, where contemporary dance and physical theatre merge into something surreal.

Morau is known for creating visually impressive works that feel both human and surreal. Just like in previous creations for NDT, such as Folkå (2021) and Horses (2024), he is a master at combining abstract movements with theatrical details – for a bold theatre experience that stays with you for a long time.

In this new work, created in collaboration with the NDT 1 dancers, Morau shows an impressive landscape with the evocative music of Benjamin Clementine. Each song is like a door that opens to a world that accelerates, shatters, and observes itself full of unrest. Loneliness, loss, and the desire to belong become visible in the bodies of the dancers, not as individual stories, but as a shared truth.

In essence, this creation is a cry for help for something simple and urgent: closeness.

Morau depicts a shared ritual on stage in which, as long as the music plays, we can have the confidence that we can connect with each other and come together. Even if our reality seems to suggest otherwise.
