Mahmoud Nabil Ahmed, a Palestinian filmmaker living in Ghent, made Gazan Tales. This compelling documentary is about the extraordinary daily life in the Gaza Strip with an emphasis on the human aspects, very different from the usual news reports about conflict and violence. Gazan Tales emphasizes the resilience and perseverance of the inhabitants, and invites the viewer to understand the complexity and diversity of daily life in the Gaza Strip.

Four men are followed as they each seek their own path amidst the complexities of existence, love and survival in Gaza. Their interconnected lives are marked by various challenges. Produced with limited resources, this documentary uses a classic observational strategy, giving the viewer an unfiltered look into the lives of the main characters. The result is a surprising portrait of Gaza and its inhabitants.
