Fresh: jackie's hangout
On Friday, September 25, Jackie receives the keys to the Maaspodium. As a Nigerian who grew up in Delfshaven, she saw firsthand how important connection is, and how often it is lacking. Especially for Afro-diasporic groups and bicultural Rotterdammers, who do not always recognize themselves in the mainstream cultural offerings. So, for the people around her—and has been for some sixteen years—she has been creating as a cultural curator and connector.
With Jackie's Hangout, she invites you for a classic Rotterdam chilling experience: nothing is mandatory, anything goes. What started small as a response to loneliness in the city—an in-between space where you can simply be—has grown into a dynamic evening where music, games, and culture come together and meeting new people happens naturally.
This FRESH brings that world to the Maaspodium: an evening full of games, music, and connection, where playing is the fastest way to turn a stranger into an acquaintance. Pull up a chair at a table full of strangers and discover who they are by the end of the evening. Come in, join in, and see who you meet here.
