Tussenstop brings together four films about young characters who reach a new point, they are on the threshold of something new. A silent Bo who slowly opens up. A bargeman's child who leaves his familiar life behind. Two friends who discover that growing up can also mean distance. And a boy who chases his dreams, but is overtaken by the consequences of his choices. This block shows that growing up is not a straight line, but a journey full of small transitions. Flowers of the Pump - Danny Stolker When Jason, a young street footballer with a clear path ahead of him, gets caught up in a seemingly innocent act of 'easy money', he ends up in a moral nightmare that puts everything he stood for in jeopardy. Growing Pains - Jottum Kok During a camping holiday, two 16-year-old boys are confronted with new feelings that put their close friendship to the test. While Oscar seeks a connection with a group of older boys and girls, Marlon tries to keep his friend close at all costs. Course - Fer van der Hoff When six-year-old skipper Kay has to leave his familiar life on board an inland vessel behind, he learns what saying goodbye means. Caterpillar - Susanne Hagen Imaginative Bo (9) lives as the only child in a street full of extroverted adults. They find her quiet and her parents try to involve her in the group. But Bo prefers to write in her self-made encyclopedia. When another child moves into the street for the first time, Bo decides to befriend her to prove to her judgmental neighbors that she is more than just shy. 'Caterpillar' is a film about the silent power of the introvert and the magic of fantasy.
