Forgotten Crafts: Expositie
In this exhibition, you will get to know the work and stories of the artists who lead the workshops. In addition, you will see what participants have created with their own hands, curiosity, and pleasure.
Forgotten Crafts is a series of free weekly creative workshops at Dokhuis. Local residents are invited to discover old and new crafts in an accessible and hands-on way and to try their hand at them themselves.
Each month, a different craft takes center stage. Artists from Charlois and other parts of Rotterdam share their techniques, knowledge, and experiences with the neighborhood and the Dokhuis community. From centuries-old techniques to reinterpretations and new forms of creation: the crafts reflect the knowledge and culture of the diverse communities that make Charlois and Rotterdam so rich.
Because a craft is more than just a technique. By working together with our hands, we also create space for stories, for passing on knowledge, and for a conversation with someone you didn’t know before. In this way, the workshops bring together not only materials, but also people and traditions.
In this exhibition, you’ll discover the work and stories of the artists who have led the Forgotten Crafts workshops until now. You’ll also see what participants have created with their own hands, curiosity, and joy.
