'Floating Things' Expo Floris Hovers
In Floating Things, Floris Hovers explores the world of boats. With robust and fragile sculptures, he plays with form, line, scale, and material, at the intersection of design and imagination.
Discover the world of Floris Hovers
In 'Floating Things', designer Floris Hovers reveals another side of his work, with boats as the central theme. From recognizable vessels to almost abstract constructions, Hovers explores with his sculptures how small adjustments in scale, hull, and proportions give an object a completely different character. The boats are sometimes robust, sometimes fragile, and built with Hovers' characteristic sense of simplicity, material, and construction. The designs are enlargements of earlier experiments and move freely between art and design.
Form and imagination in play
Whether you call the works boats, sculptures, or abstract objects is not the most important thing. 'Floating Things' revolves around the interplay between form and line, structure and imagination. It shows how much can be conveyed with seemingly simple forms. Also visit this exhibition at Gallery Untitled in Rotterdam.
