Flip Noorman

Flip Noorman and his band De Noormannen return to LantarenVenster! 'Elusive', 'brilliant', 'uncompromisingly unique style', 'world-class band', are terms that have been used in the press and jury reports to describe Noorman and his programs. In Animal Farm, Noorman takes George Orwell's legendary parable as a starting point to create another energetic, funny, moving and confronting theatrical concert, as only he can.

Assisted by his band, the current zeitgeist is measured in Flip's style against the infamous statement "All animals are equal". Animal Farm is one of Noorman's favourite books. As a songwriter, Flip sees the satirical, almost childlike characters as the starting point for a colourful collection of songs in which a free translation is made to the here and now for each song. What does Boxer's 'Werk Harder' mean in this day and age? Who are the sheep who always shout down every nuance with the 'four legs good, two legs bad'? The songs are alternated with monologues by Noorman in which he subtly undergoes the transformation during the show from a true revolutionary to a ruler who only thinks of his own position. Because yes: "some animals are more equal than others."
