FilmTuin: Tristana
This time in the Filmtuin we are showing Tristana by Luis Buñuel — a visually powerful classic that examines femininity, power and morality. A sultry open-air evening full of cinema, reflection and summery atmosphere.
Every Thursday evening in June, the Eendrachtstuin transforms into De Filmtuin — an intimate open-air cinema where you can watch arthouse films under the stars, selected by local residents and WORM. This edition, we will be screening Tristana (1970) by iconic Spanish director Luis Buñuel. The film balances themes such as power, dependency and female autonomy around the character Tristana, caught between her dominant guardian Don Lope and her lover Horacio. The film offers a sharp reflection on gender roles and the way femininity is portrayed in cinema — themes that are still relevant today. Tristana is seen as an early echo of films such as Parthenope , in which young women struggle to escape patriarchal structures. Bring your own drink, grab a pair of headphones and experience this classic film like you've never seen it before — under the evening sky, in the greenery.
