Clueless (1995) - 30th Anniversary

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Clueless’ first release in theaters. A good reason to bring the film back to theaters. Director Amy Heckerling loosely transplanted Jane Austen’s Emma from 1816 to the beautiful suburbs of mid-nineties Los Angeles where teenagers are preoccupied with sex, clothes, popularity, and plastic surgery (note the bandaged noses and chins!). The wildly popular high school girl Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is the embodiment of ignorance. She knows no venom, she is too naive for that. The trouble starts when she is overshadowed by her protégée. Unrequited love makes matters worse. And then she is also stuck with her boring ex-stepbrother. An absolute classic in the teen comedy genre.
