BEEST 8+
With cello, polyphonic singing and the monstrously beautiful compositions of Lavalu (Marielle Woltring), BEEST casts a brand new eye on the well-known fairy tale. A magical performance about loneliness, about a body that is different and about the healing power of friendship and fantasy.
Beast is cursed. Since she got sick, she looks different from all the other children. She has horrible itching, but the worst thing is: people point and snipe at her. Beast flees to a castle, far away from the ordinary world. Here she waits, until her body acts normally again. Here she waits, until someone comes to save her one day, someone who finds her beautiful just the way she is. Someone who is the most beautiful of all. Just like in fairy tales!
After a long, long, long time, someone finally knocks at the castle. Beast enthusiastically opens the gate, but she is disappointed by what she sees. It is not the prettiest. It is Monster, another child who has fled from the pointing and the smirking. Beast carefully lets her in. At first they are a little afraid of each other, but while they wait they become friends. Together they make the teacups in the castle tinkle again. They make the curtains dance again. They fantasize. But will they ever be like the other children again? And is that really better?
