Baby

When eighteen-year-old Wellington (Baby) is released from a juvenile detention center, he has nothing and no one to turn to except the streets of São Paolo. His parents have left without leaving their new address, and Baby has no means to build a new life on his own. During an exciting night, he meets Ronaldo, a man in his forties, who teaches him to become independent. Gradually, their relationship turns into a passionate love-hate relationship.

Director Marcelo Caetano, known for Body Electric, cast mainly non-professional actors from the streets of São Paulo for Baby, creating an authentic image of the queer underdog scene. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and impressed with its raw, observational style.
