In the vastness of the Arctic Ocean, 'Arctic Link' follows a cable ship slowly rolling out thousands of kilometers of fiber optic cable. This cable is en route to one of the last communities in the world without internet access, a small island in Alaska. The documentary captures the mixed feelings of the residents: hopeful expectations about connections to the outside world and the fear of what might be lost when their remote location becomes part of a global network. This project, which took 10 years to complete, highlights the immense technical challenges of the cable ship alongside the personal stories of the islanders and the Filipino crew.
