Another Island

Another Island is an exhibition by researcher and audiovisual artist Janilda Bartolomeu, in which she presents a film installation. The installation personally and poetically depicts the dreams of the Cape Verdean diaspora in Rotterdam and Dakar. According to Bartolomeu, wherever the diaspora settles, a new island is created. Rotterdam and Dakar are often referred to as the "other islands" of the archipelago, due to their large Cape Verdean communities. The exhibition focuses on the dreams and imaginations that connect these twelve islands. Visitors can expect an in-depth exploration of identity, culture, and the power of imagination within the diaspora.
