What happens when a woman transitions to a new phase in her life? ANIM(US) is a raw, poetic, personal and playful solo in which Cecilia Moisio delves into the often invisible transformation from mother to 'wise woman' - a change that is ignored or underestimated in our society. Based on her own experiences, she explores not only the physical transition, but also the shifting social role, the changing body and the possible spiritual deepening that this phase brings with it.

Our culture celebrates youth, strength and productivity, but is silent about what comes after. What happens when a woman gets older and no longer meets the dominant beauty ideal? Is a woman allowed to show her masculine sides? Moisio questions these norms and shows how strength, wisdom and imagination can flourish in this phase of life. In a visually and audibly layered ritual, Moisio switches between archetypes: from goddess to mother, from warrior to invisible woman. She draws inspiration from Finnish mythology and Jungian psychology, in which she makes the balance between the masculine and feminine in all of us visible and tangible.

With humor, intensity and a good dose of self-mockery, Moisio breaks taboos about menopause, beauty, strength and vulnerability. She switches effortlessly between extremes – young and old, female and male, vulnerable and unapproachable – and questions the traditional view of growing older in modern society. ANIM(US) is a postmodern cabaret full of contrasts in which movement, song and text merge.
