In a remote corner of Iceland, the most striking birdhouses appear every year. A group of grumpy Icelanders, led by the older couple Ólafur and Joanna, is responsible for this. Among the Birds is a delightful, dryly humorous viewing experience, filmed in the spectacular wilderness of Iceland.
A glimpse into an Icelandic paradise
In Loðmundarfjörður, a remote spot in Iceland, special birdhouses appear year after year. A group of Icelanders, led by the elderly couple Ólafur and Joanna, builds them. Every year, these people create a home together for the local eider ducks. They keep watch from watchtowers to keep foxes and seagulls away from the eggs. At the end of the season, they collect the valuable down.
