Marie-Lou, director of a nursing home in Paris, wants to make care radically more human. With an innovative method, she puts the wishes and dignity of the residents at the centre, but her idealism clashes with the daily reality of an overworked team. Then she meets Mari, a Japanese theatre director who is seriously ill. What begins as a chance encounter grows into a special friendship that makes both women look at life in a different way.
