Tearoom Relay _ SHOULDER
Tearoom Relay _ SHOULDER transforms Kunstinstituut Melly into a space for performance, reflection, and gathering part of an ongoing series initiated by Haegue Yang’s class at Städelschule.
We are pleased to announce that Kunstinstituut Melly will host the sixth iteration of Tearoom, titled Tearoom Relay _ SHOULDER — a gathering of Frankfurt-based artists who explore performative formats as ways to create friction, nurture unlikely combinations, and build community through shared space and time.
Tearoom began in the summer of 2022, when the class of Haegue Yang transformed their Städelschule classroom into a tea room: a space for events, performances, meditations, concerts, and conversations. Since then, Tearoom has taken place at the Venice Biennale of Architecture (2021), the Delfina Foundation in London (2023), and the Vietnam Art Collection in Hanoi (2025).
This event at Kunstinstituut Melly features six performances and two intermissions, unfolding across readings, screenings, choreographic and sonic scores, meditations, and talks.
