The Keilepand

The Keilepand in Rotterdam's MerweVierhavens (M4H) district was originally a warehouse built in 1922. Since then, it has undergone an impressive transformation into a Rotterdam cultural and culinary hotspot. Passionate entrepreneurs from various disciplines are working towards a circular and sustainable future.

Collectivity as the basis for circularity x KeileCollectief

To realize a circular and sustainable future in M4H, the building's entrepreneurs have united in the KeileCollectief. The KeileCollectief addresses, initiates, and participates in current spatial challenges in its own unique way, and with the Keilepand as its home base, serves as a catalyst for urban renewal.

It does this by organizing lectures, exhibitions, and providing space for cultural activities in the KeileZaal. This includes various events in the arts, culture, and architecture, such as Cinema Culinair, Rotterdam Art Week, Haute Photographie, KeileContemporary, Carbon Stories, the Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam, and Placemaking Week Europe.

Cult=us Restobar. Cult=us is the new hotspot in Rotterdam's M4H district where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks in a welcoming, energetic, and positive environment. The restaurant's kitchen is located in the shared kitchen of Food Union Rotterdam, and they consciously choose suppliers and partners who share their sustainable and social ambitions. The focus is on pure and, above all, delicious dishes perfect for sharing. The drinks menu features several beers from Kaapse Brouwers, which are brewed in the cellar of the Keilepand, as well as several (natural) wines and cocktails. Cult=us also strives to connect with other participants and features several dishes from Food Union's international cuisine. There's also a rotating art exhibition every six weeks, and every Friday and Saturday you can dance until 3 a.m.: Cult=us=Club!

Food Union Rotterdam. On the ground floor is Food Union Rotterdam (FUR), a culinary incubator with a shared kitchen where food entrepreneurs take center stage. Caterers from all over the world find a home here, and many wonderful and valuable collaborations are formed. FUR also rents out event and office space. They regularly organize all kinds of events in collaboration with Cult=us and participants from the kitchen, such as pop-up dinners. For example, there's a biweekly Neapolitan pizza-making workshop. Keep an eye on Food Union Rotterdam's social media channels and the entrepreneurs themselves for all the latest events.

IABR (International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam). The IABR is both a cultural and a knowledge institution. This combination allows it to optimally and effectively harness the power of imagination and design for real change. Since 2009, its two primary instruments have been the IABR–Ateliers, where research takes place, and the biennale itself, the cultural event where results are showcased and conceptualized, and where public debate takes place.
