Fenix is a cultural space in Rotterdam, inspired by migration stories from around the world. About love and farewell, about coming home and feeling at home, about navigating identity or searching for happiness. At the very place of departure and arrival.

Through art, stories, and flavors, Fenix sparks your curiosity about the world around you and how it has been shaped by migration. The story of Fenix is the story of Rotterdam. And that of the world. Because migration moves us, always and everywhere.

Discover the theme through the eyes of international artists such as Do Ho Su, Shilpa Gupta, Bill Viola, and Omar Victor Diop. In a monumental suitcase maze, you wander past personal stories, and the exhibition Family of Migrants takes you on a journey through hundreds of iconic documentary photographs.

Fenix is housed in a historic harbor warehouse from 1923 with a modern addition: the Tornado by MAD Architects. Climbing this staircase is an experience and takes you to a spectacular viewing platform high above the roof.

Square: A lively place for art and the city

In Fenix, you will find Plein, a covered city square spanning no less than two thousand square meters. It is a dynamic place that breathes with the city. Plein has its own program full of exhibitions, events, and activities. An ideal place to gather, roller skate, or simply do your homework in peace. No day is the same here.
