Zonnelied van Franciscus van Assisi

Anime Beatitudinis Cantando (ABC) presents a very special performance about the life of Franciscus van Assisi. Especially for this performance, animator and visual artist Cristina Garcia Martin transformed frescoes by Franciscus’ contemporary Giotto into fascinating animations that accompany the medieval singing of ABC. The 75-minute programme, without an intermission, begins and ends with the Zonnelied. In between are songs dedicated to the life of Franciscus about renouncing wealth, about singing, loving, and the deep bond between Franciscus, creation, and the Creator. Through the combination of singing, imagery, and content, the memory of Franciscus is brought to life after 400 years. Prior to the concert, the Franciscaanse Beweging Nederland will provide an introduction to the life of Franciscus van Assisi and the importance of his philosophy for the modern age. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to talk with the musicians and the Franciscaanse Beweging.
