World Sessions -Burak Savas X Laia Escartin

In this unique concert, Burak Savaş and Laia Escartín unite Turkish and Catalan/Iberian songs from their youth and explore the connections between these distant yet Mediterranean traditions. What similarities emerge in melodies born 3,000 km apart and shaped by the same sea and cultural exchanges?

Burak Savaş, a master of Ottoman classical music, is a skilled singer and instrumentalist who plays violin, tanbur and lavta, among other instruments. Laia Escartín, a singer and violist, has developed a unique style influenced by her Iberian roots.

World Sessions pairs young talent with big names from the world music scene and challenges them to create a special performance. After the concert there is a jam session where other musicians get the chance to show their skills on stage and network in the scene.
