Peace, Memories of Anton de Kom This award-winning documentary by Ida Does tells the story of the Surinamese writer and anti-colonial fighter Anton de Kom (1898-1945). Anton de Kom published his book We slaves of Suriname in 1934, an indictment against racism, exploitation and colonial domination. Three of his children share their intimate memories of their father, who was exiled from his beloved native country for his anti-colonial activities and made a name for himself as a writer and anti-fascist in the Netherlands in the 1930s.
