A hidden piece of Norway in the middle of Rotterdam! The beautiful Norwegian Seamen's Church will open its doors to the general public on June 8 and 9 as part of the Holy Houses Festival, with the theme of the Vikingfest! Whether you're stopping by for the first time to take a look, or if you're already familiar with Norwegian culture, there's something for everyone.

During the Vikingfest! Norwegian culture and history are central. The special interior and exterior of this Seamen's Church, based on Norwegian stave churches from the thirteenth century, tell a story in themselves. In addition, various workshops, theater performances and lectures take place to learn more about Norwegian culture, or to delve deeper into it. Of course, there are also typical Norwegian snacks (and drinks) ready to enjoy in this sacred house.

For children

For younger visitors, the church organizes various child-friendly activities around the theme of Vikings. Think of raising a Viking shield, hoisting the sails (tug of war) and making your own rune stone. Afterwards you earn your place in Valhalla in the form of a Viking diploma.
