Uniek Japans bamboe-fluit concert 8 juni

A one-off concert by kyotaku player Agar Kyosui Noiri (Tokyo) will take place in the Japanese cultural center Shofukan in Rotterdam. It promises to be a unique event in the Netherlands.

The kyotaku is a wind instrument that is part of the shakuhachi family. The kyotaku is an ancient instrument from Japan, which is closely intertwined with Japanese spiritual history. The kyotaku differs from the shakuhachi by its construction and way of playing.

Agar Noiri is a disciple of Koku Nishimura, the founder of the kyotaku (Tani-ha) school. Agar became a student of Koku Nishimura in 1975 and studied with him until his death in 2002. He is considered one of the leading players of the kyotaku and rarely performs outside Japan.
