TR Herdenkt & Viert: Keti Koti dag 1

The commemoration and celebration of Keti Koti are not only a moment of reflection and healing, but also an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity that has emerged from this history. Theater Rotterdam chooses to commemorate/celebrate Keti Koti the weekend before July 1, in this way there is room on July 1 for those who want (TR employees to) take a day off, not have to work and make their own choices. give to this day.

We start the program on both days with a sound healing session by composer and multi-instrumentalist Dizzi Geetha, followed by dialogue sessions with Mathieu Charles. The healing effect of sound and music opens our senses and prepares us for a deep conversation with each other. There are various workshops in the afternoon and two performances and a (free) dinner for 200 people in the evening on Saturday. Winner Keti Cake Off makes dessert last year (Name the winner of the cake-off) During these (consecutive) sessions there will be a light brunch/lunch for the public. The trumpet choir from the performance Plantation of Our Ancestors will also give a special performance in our hall.

Theater should of course not be missing on such an important evening. Especially for this purpose, we are bringing the successful theater performance The Plantation of Our Ancestors by Geert Lageveen/Orkater to our Main Hall and the beautiful dance performance Corpus Criolla by Faizah Grootens/KIP Republic to the Small Hall.

While enjoying your snacks in the hall you can also admire the exhibition selected from an entry. We have asked everyone en masse to send photos of their families, ancestors, friends or acquaintances who experienced slavery. The exhibition will be on display in the hall.
