Toon Tellegen over Niemands verjaardag

Toon Tellegen will be interviewed this afternoon by Patricia de Groot (editor at Querido publishers) about his new animal stories Niemands verjaardag . Followed by signing.

About the book:

There are days in the year when no one has a birthday. On one of those days, the animals sit together in silence. Until the cricket suddenly jumps up and shouts: 'But if it's no one's birthday, why don't we celebrate no one's birthday?'

The party is a great success, and from then on they celebrate no one's birthday every year as if it were one of their own. The cockroach always hopes for moldy presents, the snail wishes that time would stand still on his birthday, because he hates everything that passes, and the mammoth now also prefers to celebrate his thirty-eight thousand six hundred and forty-seventh birthday far away on his own.

The gems of stories are provided with elegant fountain pen drawings by Annemarie van Haeringen.

Toon Tellegen (Brielle, 1941) is a writer and poet. He received the Theo Thijssen Prize, the Hendrik de Vries Prize and the Constantijn Huygens Prize for his entire oeuvre. He writes poems and animal stories, but also books about people, and slightly absurdist stories about God ( God among people ). He has now published more than twenty poetry collections. He collected a selection of these in Een van ons zal omkijken . More than 1 million copies of his books have been sold.

'Tellegen obviously does not do genres. He writes movingly and wittily. He may turn everything around, enlarge, reduce and fool, he never conceals his subjects: recognizable human behavior and recognizable human emotions.' de Volkskrant
