The Last Five Years , written and composed by Jason Robert Brown, tells the story of two New Yorkers who move from intense love to break-up in the space of five years. For twenty-somethings, the world is their oyster; Actress Cathy tries to find her place in the theater world, while novelist Jamie publishes his first book and is on the brink of great success. We follow Jamie's story in chronological order, while we experience Cathy's story backwards from the end of their turbulent relationship. Their paths cross only once, at their wedding.
Without losing sight of the original text and music, NANOEK attempts to give the story a new female gaze. This exciting and fresh version of The Last Five Years makes this recognizable love story hit you straight in the heart.
