The Contenders (USA) USA

The two gentlemen from the American folk rock duo The Contenders met each other more than ten years ago because of a preference for roots music, Americana and more specifically the work of The Band.

The latter can also be heard in the well-groomed two-part singing of singer-songwriter Jay Nash and drummer Josh Day. The music is hopeful and romantic. But the most beautiful are the voices, both warm and subtle and raw and powerful, moving and encouraging at the same time.

Jay has released several solo albums, with the support of Counting Crows members David Immerglück and Charlie Gillingham. Josh has been a drummer in the band of Sara Bareilles, Maroon5 and John Oates (Hall & Oates).

The Contenders have released three albums so far. The beautiful album “The good times in between” was released in 2024. The Contenders are coming to Rotterdam for the second time, expect Good Times tonight with experienced roots music from two veterans!
