The Art of the Duo #2

The duo is the smallest possible musical collaboration, in which everything revolves around interplay, creativity, and musical daring. A duo is the most direct form of musical communication. There is no rhythm section, no safety net – just two musicians who are completely dependent on each other and themselves. The result? Music full of spontaneity, virtuosity, and pure playing pleasure. The program features performances by two unique duos. Suzan Veneman (trumpet) and Timothy Banchet (piano) are two standard-bearers of Dutch jazz. The soulful and energetic playing of this duo, who are perfectly attuned to one another, is embedded in colorful and warm harmonies. Daan Kluwer (saxophone) & Ella Zirina (guitar) form a duo with surprising lyrical improvisations and narrative melodic lines. Both musicians are considered promising new faces in the Dutch music scene, with deep roots in classical music and jazz.
