Teaches of Peaches

During the tour in which Peaches, dubbed in the media as 'the grandmother of electroclash', celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the iconic album The Teaches of Peaches, she enters the stage behind a walker with squeaky wheels. She also wears an enormous vulva cap on her head and thick boob slippers on her feet. The grotesque costumes, which contrast with her filthy electro beats, add a cheerful exclamation point to the explicit lyrics that celebrate sexual freedom in all its forms.

Using interviews, a treasure trove of archive footage and rousing live performances, this film traces how Canadian Merrill Nisker grew from kindergarten teacher to feminist icon, queer fighter and all-round don't-give-a-shit. We see her fooling around with roommate Feist in her twenties, her 'Berlin underground fairy tale' with Chilly Gonzales, with whom she formed the duo The Shit, and the creation of the studio album that changed her life, with cult classics such as Fuck the Pain Away and AA XXX.
