Sunflower Bean

The disarming indie pop of New York’s Sunflower Bean has come into full bloom. What started out as a promising young band has grown into a confident force with an unmistakably distinctive sound—free-spirited, untamed, and drenched in gritty, shimmering rock riffs that both enchant and challenge. Beneath that bravado, however, lies a tender melancholy, with nods to the psychedelic pop of the ‘60s, and the occasional hint of sludge.

In late April 2025, Mortal Primetime, their fourth album, was released—a record full of fighting spirit and self-reflection. It is the work of a band that has reinvented itself—not from the abyss, but after a long, winding journey. The title says it all: simultaneously powerful and vulnerable.
