Star cellist Alisa Weilerstein performs Fragments

In Fragments she interweaves Bach's timeless cello suites with brand new works by contemporary composers, carefully brought together in an impressive lighting design.

Each fragment forms its own chapter within a larger whole, in which old and new, structure and intuition come together. Wonder – the first part of this six-part series – will have its European premiere in the Doelen this season.

With Fragments, Weilerstein challenges the conventions of the classical recital. She invites the audience to listen in a new way: without a program, without a fixed order, but completely open to what the music has to say at that moment.
