Sean Mason Quartet
According to NPR, pianist Sean Mason's music is 'exceptionally groovy.' On his debut album The Southern Suite, Mason puts a contemporary spin on the music he grew up with in Charlotte, North Carolina. He mixes the gospel of the church with the rawness of the street and the groove of the blues with the melody of Broadway. He moved to New York on the advice of jazz hero Branford Marsalis, who was immediately impressed by his playing. Sean Mason now plays in the best jazz clubs in the city and his international breakthrough is very close.
For his European tour, Sean formed a band with great players from New York, who can also be heard on The Southern Suite. The secret weapon is Felix Moseholm, the Copenhagen-born double bassist who has collaborated with big names from contemporary jazz such as Samara Joy, Joel Ross and Brad Mehldau. Trumpeter Tony Glausi and drummer Domo Branch complete the quartet.
