Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition

In June 2026, the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) will take place at Theater Zuidplein. For three days, this is the place where top dance from around the world comes together, right in the heart of Rotterdam South.

From June 18 to 20 , 2026, you will see the most personal and daring duets of today. Sixteen choreographers from various countries present their work. You will be right up close and feel the power of two dancers on stage: from quiet and vulnerable to physical and explosive.

What can you expect?

On Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19, eight choreographers will present their duets on each day. Each piece has its own atmosphere and tempo. RIDCC is more than a competition: it is primarily about the stories on stage. You will experience up close the tension, the release, and the energy of dancers giving their all.

The final is on Saturday, June 20. The duets selected by the jury will return to the stage. While an international professional jury chooses the winner of the XL Production Award, the audience can vote for the Audience Award. We conclude with a festive awards ceremony, where creators, dancers, and the audience come together.

The XL Production Award: a unique opportunity

The grand prize is the XL Production Award worth €100,000. With this, the winner can create a new, original production at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, in collaboration with RIDCC, including a tour of the Netherlands. This prize can give a career a major boost.
