In the powerful outsider film Rosalie, pain, social prejudices and hope are combined into an emotional historical drama.

France, 1870. Rosalie is a young woman like no other. She carries a special secret: she was born with a face and body covered in hair. She has managed to hide her quirk all her life, until poor bar owner Abel marries Rosalie for her dowry. During the wedding night, Abel finds out her secret and rejects her, but Rosalie wants nothing more than to stay married. To help Abel get out of debt, she decides to grow her beard in the hope of attracting new customers to his café. Although the villagers grow to love Rosalie, Abel struggles with his feelings and fear of judgment. Until even the village turns against them.

French director Stéphanie Di Giusto (La danseuse) once again presents a film about an exceptional woman with Rosalie. Di Giusto drew inspiration for this feminist and delicate film from Clémentine Delait, a French bearded lady and café owner who was famous at the beginning of the twentieth century. Starring Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Benoît Magimel.
