Richard Avedon

This summer, Kunsthal Rotterdam presents a large-scale overview of the American photographer Richard Avedon (1923-2004). The exhibition Relationships highlights both Avedon's groundbreaking contribution to fashion photography and his characteristic portrait photography in more than one hundred and thirty photos. His powerful, expressive portraits include writer Truman Capote, actress Marlene Dietrich, musician Bob Dylan, artist Andy Warhol, and actress and model Nastassja Kinski. Relationships is a celebration of Avedon's innovation and creativity and shows how the photographer can uniquely capture the complexity and fragility of human relationships.
