Reflections Nationale Opera & Ballet / Alexei Ratmansky / Hans van Manen / George Balanchine / Kirsten Wicklund
Art offers space for reflection. On ourselves and the world around us. In the tour programme Reflections, four choreographers show four different worlds, from contemporary to sparkling classical. Personal stories, social themes and pure dance energy come together.
The poignant Solitude by Associate Artist Alexei Ratmansky, set to music by Gustav Mahler, depicts the suffering caused by war. The young Canadian choreographer Kirsten Wicklund created a new ballet about gender equality, in celebration of 25 years of same-sex marriage in 2026. In Simple Things, master choreographer Hans van Manen zooms in on human relationships. Finally, with the sparkling classic Symphony in C, George Balanchine pays homage to the Franco-Russian ballet tradition in which he grew up.
