Ragazze Quartet Kamermuziekvereeniging
Fortunately, Price's name and musical oeuvre have become increasingly better known in recent years. Her music is combined with the always beautiful 'American string quartet' by Antonín Dvořák (a great inspiration to Price) and a new work by singer-songwriter Rhiannon Giddens.
Giddens wrote a song in response to an advertisement she came across from the time of slavery. In it, a young woman was offered for sale, with her 9-month-old baby 'At the purchaser's option'. It appeared on her album 'Freedom Highway' (2017). This song was arranged for the Kronos Quartet for their '50 For the Future' project. The title of this program is derived from one of the sentences from this song: 'You can take my body, but not my soul.'
