Comedian Howard Komproe and chef Noni Kooiman tell Surinamese history through the kitchen. What influence does that history have on the country, the people and the dishes? And where do r oti, bara, bakkeljauw and moksi meti come from?
The food industry has discovered that there is a lot of money to be made if you just label everything as Surinamese. Komproe and Kooiman think it is high time to put an end to this, but they also embrace the fresh wind that the young generation is blowing through the Surinamese cooking culture. And of course there is something to eat, so come and listen and taste!
