In this panel discussion, director Julie Ng and writer David Zee delve deeper into the content and themes of " More Than Babi Pangang ." They discuss identity, family history, and the (often unspoken) legacies you carry, and how these resonate in daily life and in stories on screen. They also address how to translate such personal and collective experiences into film: which perspectives do you choose, what do you leave out, and why? A conversation about representation, recognition, and the layers behind a seemingly mundane story.
Dinner
Jinai Looi (雷仁愛), born in Singapore and raised in Rotterdam, is a chef, educator, and entrepreneur with a passion for Chinese and international cuisine. This evening, she'll be serving chicken Babi Pangang (100% halal) and a vegetarian option. Dinner will be served between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. You are welcome to eat during the panel discussion.
About the film
In More Than Babi Pangang, Chinese-Dutch documentary maker Julie Ng examines the success and impending demise of the Chinese-Indonesian restaurant, based on Golden House, her father's restaurant in Rozenburg.
What begins as a search for the origins of babi pangang evolves into a personal and emotional exploration of her cultural and culinary identity as a Chinese-Dutch person. " More Than Babi Pangang" is an ode to the first generation of Chinese-Dutch people who, through hard work, built an indispensable part of the Dutch streetscape. At the same time, it's an invitation to look beyond the takeout menu.

Fenix, Studio De Zolder and restaurant Mies debut at Museumnacht010
Museumnacht010 takes place on Saturday 7 March, transforming Rotterdam into one big art landscape. This edition welcomes a number of new venues such as the new art museum Fenix on Katendrecht, the interdisciplinary Studio De Zolder in Middelland, and the restaurant Mies, located in a Bauhaus icon.
