Dance, film and innovative originality come together in Origin – the future is feminine, led by Scapino's new artistic director Nanine Linning.
In this unique program, two new choreographies and two short dance films show the power and creativity of a new generation of female makers. Choreographers Sarah Baltzinger and Marie-Louise Hertog create an intense, surprising dance experience with inventiveness, playful humor and a sharp eye for traditions. The films are curated by Cinedans Film Festival, in a unique collaboration with Scapino – a first in the dance world.
In the beautifully designed Vénus Anatomique, Sarah Baltzinger shows the raw power and vulnerability of the female body. With humor, absurdism and a merciless theatricality, she invites the audience to rethink the way we look at women's bodies.
Marie-Louise Hertog offers a surprising reinterpretation of Le Sacre du printemps, in which she looks at the classic work through a feminist lens. With only male dancers and an explosive dance language, she challenges traditional role patterns.
