Opening Night: Charlotte's Castle

In the old city centre of Toronto stands the brick Spadina Gardens, a historic building with a special history. The building is home to various eccentrics who moved into the once affordable building long ago. From an artist, a musician, a former diplomat to a compulsive collector, each and every one of them is a special character who has a deep connection with the building. In the meantime, housing prices in Toronto have skyrocketed. The residents are told that their building has been sold to a Dutch developer. However, when they discover that the hallway and vacant apartments are being completely stripped of their historic features, they rebel. Jamie Kastner's dryly comic Charlotte's Castle shows the conflict between residents and developer. Should change always be accepted?
