Off Screen x VPRO - Millennial Trilogy

VPRO and Off-Screen present a special screening of the entire millennial trilogy by director Vincent Boy Kars. The millennial trilogy begins with Independent Boy (2017), followed by Drama Girl (2020) and ends with Future Me (2024). Each part focuses on a millennial, whose search for identity and the associated problems are exposed and examined in a matching cinematic construct.

During this day, film journalist Dana Linssen, together with Vincent, the main characters from the films and the audience, will investigate the tension between film and real life. Before the trilogy, Dana will give a short introduction from her perspective as a film journalist and someone who loves double meanings, full of questions and counter-questions about fact and fiction. The goal is to challenge you as a viewer to watch the films actively and curiously. What do you see? And is what you think you see correct?

After the screenings, Dana will talk to Vincent and the main characters from the films: Metin Fennema (Independent Boy) Leyla de Munck (Drama Girl), Martijn Lakemeier (Future Me) and she will challenge you as a viewer to ultimately determine for yourself what is reality and what is fiction.
