No Good Men - Expat Cinema Rotterdam

Nary no longer believes in good men, until an opportunity at Kabul TV with a top journalist changes her perspective on love and relationships. A moving story about Afghanistan, love, and hope.

No Good Men takes you to Afghanistan in 2021, just before the Taliban seizes power. Naru, the only female camera operator at the main television station in Kabul, is fighting for custody of her three-year-old son, Liam. After her divorce, like many Afghan women, she is convinced that 'good men' simply do not exist. Her encounters with men, whom she calls "bullies and brainless," have made her cynical about love.

The film opens with this reality: Naru is confronted with male contempt, even from her driver. During a TV program, she hears a doctor advising women to put on makeup to win back their husbands' affection, which reinforces Naru's pessimism. She tries to instill courage and kindness in her son Liam, far away from violence.
