Neighbours photo-expo With ‘Neighbours’ de Doelen welcomes its

All portrayed by photographer Robin Utrecht and now on display in the Neighbors photo gallery in the De Doelen concert hall.

On the first day of spring, the Neighbors photo exhibition will be festively opened on the first floor of the Doelen, the presentation will be in the hands of Jet Sol.

Last September, photographer Robin Utrecht portrayed a group of Rotterdam residents who live, work and shop a stone's throw away.

Old West

An afternoon on the terrace of the Marseille restaurant, but also at the seat in front of the Rimboe pet shop and at the Ice Cream Parlor, gives a beautiful picture of the residents of the Old West.

Poor, rich, hip, young and old passes before the eye. A colorful collection of the neighbors. Here you will see the most beautiful mix of tradition and hip. There is laughter, flirting, strolling, gossiping and shopping.

Creative producer Mieke van der Linden: “West-Kruiskade is one of the nicest streets in Rotterdam. Here you really encounter the whole world. The Old West is the near neighbor of De Doelen. Time to put those neighbors in the spotlight with a series of beautiful portraits by Robin Utrecht.”

Pop-up photo studio

Utrecht set up a pop-up photo studio in the Doelen and every neighbor was warmly welcomed by van der Linden and Michelle Rath, the duo who had scouted the models on and around the West-Kruiskade a few weeks before. Most of the models already knew each other by sight and the photo shoot became a day full of conversations, cheerfulness and recognition. The neighbors were clearly having a good time and stayed around for a long time after their portraits had been taken.

Robin Utrecht

Photographer Robin Utrecht is no stranger to De Doelen, Rotterdam and the rest of the world. During the pandemic, he took photos of the Lunchbreak concerts of great talents in front of an otherwise completely empty Main Hall. And he explained the big Booster Party of Dr.'s medical team. Mathijs van der Poel.

As a photojournalist, he chases the news and is one of the regular photographers who travel with the royal family on state visits.

Van der Linden and Utrecht work together more often, preferably on the street with ordinary people, who are of course never that ordinary, according to the duo.
