Nederland door de ogen van een vluchteling

The exhibition is the result of a project carried out by Kunsthalte. The project titled “Seesaw: Innocent Balances in Contrasts” is a way to bring together artists and art teachers of Turkish descent and jointly express through art the difficulties that children are currently going through.

The goal is to create empathy, increase social awareness and demonstrate the therapeutic power of art. The emotional experiences of children are conveyed to visitors through works of art.

The artists, who often have a background as refugees themselves, want to use the project to investigate, understand and, above all, show the difficulties, dilemmas and emotional contradictions in the lives of children. Today, children face many social, economic and psychological challenges. This affects their emotional and mental well-being.

For the creators, the exhibition is a way to raise awareness of these difficulties worldwide and express children's rights through art. Because many refugees are also received in the Netherlands, it is important to increase this awareness.

The paintings and visual works of art will be exhibited during the exhibition in the Laurenskerk.

Various workshops, panels and interviews will also be organized parallel to the exhibition. This way you can participate in an interactive art experience together with children and artists.

The exhibition and workshops are suitable to visit with children.
